In 2012, the Community Foundation of Ottawa celebrated its first 25 years of forever. It was a wonderful year of sharing a quarter century of memories, successes and dreams for the future with the entire community.

We wish to thank everyone who joined us in November for our Silver Anniversary Celebration at the Ottawa Convention Centre where 500 of our closest friends gathered to enjoy the inspiring words of Governor General David Johnston and the talents of local performers the O-Town Boys, Peter Joynt, Propeller Dance, and the Leading Note Foundation’s KidSingers. Special thanks to CBC News Ottawa anchor Adrian Harewood, and all our sponsors, including presenter Scotiabank, the Ottawa Convention Centre, CBC, Rogers TV and Telus.

The Foundation was honoured to receive the Key to the City from Mayor Jim Watson at the event, which also kicked off a specially designated Community Foundation of Ottawa Week in the capital. We were also delighted to host the presentation of the Governor General of Canada’s Caring Canadian Awards to six local recipients, including our own Past Chair Scott Wilson.

Thanks to all the grantee organizations who submitted videos to our Community Video Showcase, and congratulations to the Ottawa Humane Society, Ottawa Rotary Home and CompuCorps for receiving the most views and likes on our YouTube channel and being screened to our Silver Anniversary audience.

Learn more about how our community is working together to improve the quality of life in Ottawa and fostering a smart and caring community by viewing all the submissions to the Community Video Showcase on our YouTube channel.

Finally, a special thanks to Rogers TV for producing this special anniversary video that so cleverly demystifies philanthropy and demonstrates how the Foundation has been supporting the community for the last 25 years.
